Resources for Creatives

SETTING UP YOUR BUSINESS

Setting yourself up for success by separating your business revenue from your personal assets is vital. I didn’t form an LLC until about three years into my career and regret it. Make sure you’re setting up an LLC and business bank account as soon as you begin bringing in revenue.

File for your LLC with MyCompanyWorks. I’ve used to set up two separate LLC’s and they made the process so easy and are always available to hop on a call or live chat if I have any questions about my company.

Programs

All about automation. Anything you can do to make your life easier– or your clients’ lives easier– is a major plus. Here are programs you can use so your workflows are set up for success. Not sure how to get started? Book a consulting call with us.

 Equipment

The best equipment is an investment. But when you’re ready, it’s worth it to make sure your day-today equipment is never the thing slowing you down. Not in a place you can splurge? If you spend on one thing, make it a foolproof system for backing up your work. We like the external hard drive below, backed up to a cloud system, such as DropBox.

Books

Our favorite books and resources for freelancers and entrepreneurs. Read them, listen to them, whatever– anything you can do to expand your perspective will be value you can bring to the table. Something missing from our list that you think we should read? Email us.

On Set

Absolute must-haves to bring with you to a photoshoot, because you can never be too prepared. Excellence comes down to the details, and you don’t want to find yourself relying too heavily on post-production to make sure everything is just right. Pro tip: create a kit, keep it in your car, never leave home without it.
